There's a bogey in my yoghurt pot...

...but you don't need to know that. My meeting with Katie on the 4th floor of the library lasted all of about 2 minutes. I just handed her back 2 text books the school had given me a weeks back for the new semester and then required back because they'd changed their mind at the last minute about what course I was teaching. I am used to this and so hadn't begun to make any preparations. Katie told me the Western Culture is only 8 weeks and that the timetable might change. I've always tried to teach Western Culture TEFL style with group activities but this semester I think I am going to take a leaf out of Joe's book and do lectures.

After I left the library I walked to the campus shops and bought some fruit. On the way back I walked past the ice rink, which is now melting and sprouting grass. The ice hockey goals lying on their sides towards the middle. Honestly, we had a cold November and December but then winter pretty much gave up here. The temperature difference between where I am now in Inner Mongolia and where I taught in 2007/2008 is impressive. At 9.00 AM this morning it was -27 in Hailar and 3 degrees above here. The actual difference in latitude is probably not more than that between two ends of Britain, probably less, but can you imagine this kind of temperature variation between Cornwall and Scotland?

When I got back to my apartment Katie was next to it. She'd come over because Joe doesn't answer his phone, so she needed to go directly to him to ask for his books back. I went into my apartment and realised there's no time to mess about anymore, I have lessons to plan.

But you know how addictive surfing is. I trawled the internet for evidence of Alan Wilder joining Depeche Mode. They've been hobbling around ever since he left.
