A step in the right direction

I had better success today at smiling at adversity. I went to the campus shop and loaded about 100 yuan's worth of goodies into my basket. Well, calling them goodies might be overstating the case but one makes the best of it. I've just eaten the fake maltesers and honestly, they should be called fool teasers. Anyways, the lovely girl at the til rang up 114, and as is customary, did not give me a receipt, but I asked for one and walked to a nearby counter to check it. She had duplicated an item and I knew I had bought only one of everything, so I went back and pointed at a duplication. She checked my bag and refunded me 7.50 yuan. That should have been the end of the matter but there was something bloody minded inside me compelling me to not let the matter end so I ask her to re-do all the items. She did and I was refunded 12 more yuan. While all this was going on she kept having to ask students to use the other til and one grumbled. The true total was 95. I wasn't that put out, but I could have added a smile and an encouraging word. Next time.

Amongst my collection of packaging with some bits of food in it I bought Franzii Seaweed cookie, for the discerning lady.

Text James to Suzy:

I don't know when I will see you again but I suspect you might be right about the odds being drastically shortened tomorrow.

N.B Holiday is almost over now, so normal service will be resumed soon. (Expect a post about tomorrow on the 9th).
